The Construction Bookkeeper is responsible for the full spectrum of the accounting activities and functions. This may include but is not limited to bank reconciliations, payroll, intercompany balances, prepaids, general accruals, financial statement reviews, etc. The position demands an analytical skill set and an ability to hit deadlines while maintaining accuracy and a sound knowledge and application of accounting theory, principles, and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (Other duties may be assigned):
Application of knowledge of cost accounting and applying the proper accounting policies and procedures to all job responsibilities.
Reconcile corporate bank accounts and GL accounts. Perform month-end closings.
Prepare journal entries and reconciliation for payroll related items.
Prepare and maintain supporting schedules and reports for all assigned tasks.
Job cost analysis/reporting.
Maintain all deposit and GL accounts and determine the proper period for each expense.
Identify and research reconciling items, providing adjusting entries or recommendations for adjustments as needed.
Produce and maintain company tax forms.
Assist with audit requests and inquiries.
Consistently meet timelines for essential functions and special projects.
Backup for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll, as needed.
Ensures Accounts Payable processes and procedures are accurately maintained.
Assist Human Resources with personnel documents and benefit programs.
Build relationships with cross-functional areas and collaborate to assure accuracy of data and successful completion of goals.

Preference will be given to candidate with construction cost accounting experience. Must be able to work in-person, full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 am-5 pm and overtime as the schedule demands. This position requires a high level of self-motivation, ability to prioritize workload, confidentiality, and communication in verbal and written form. The ideal applicant demonstrates the ability to collect and interpret documentation and apply correct cost coding. Thorough understanding of payroll processing software, bank systems, state reporting, and labor laws is essential to the success of this position. Proven competence to meet deadlines and support established company policies and procedures is required.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited institution or equivalent experience.
3 years of experience performing accounting activities.
Skilled in the use of Microsoft office software to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Strong interpersonal skills, detail oriented, and able to coordinate/manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
The office environment requires the use of standard office equipment and personal computers
